Sandra Cocea, MSW, RSW

Social Worker

As a registered social worker, I provide bilingual counselling and art therapy services to children and adolescents. My clients come to me for support with issues such as emotion regulation, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, unhealthy relationships, life transitions and difficulties in school. Additionally, I provide support to parents and caregivers to help them support the child’s progress and foster a positive relationship. I have a particular interest in working with clients who have experienced or witnessed intimate partner violence or abusive behaviours (physical, verbal, emotional, financial, psychological or sexual abuse), and have worked with this population for over 8 years.

My practice is trauma-informed and client-centred. I enjoy working collaboratively with my clients in a warm and supportive environment where I incorporate techniques from art, play, narrative, solution-focused and cognitive behavioural therapies.

I hold a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Ottawa and am completing a Graduate Diploma in Art Therapy with the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute. I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and the Ontario Association of Social Workers. I have worked with clients in all four local school boards and post-secondary settings, as well as with local agencies such as the Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre, the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa, and Counselling and Family Service of Ottawa.
