Gracie Lee Filip
Master of Counselling Psychology student
I am a Master of Counselling Psychology student at Yorkville University, currently completing my practicum placement. I hold an undergraduate degree in Communications and Sociology from Carleton University. I bring a diverse background of experience working with children across a variety of settings, where I have supported emotional development, behavioral needs, and social skills. In addition to my work with children, I am actively involved in direct engagement initiatives supporting vulnerable and unhoused populations in Ottawa. This work has deepened my awareness of systemic barriers, trauma, and the importance of meeting individuals with empathy, respect, and non-judgment. Since 2024, I have also been a student volunteer with CAFCO, where I help in group sessions. Through this role, I have gained valuable experience in group dynamics, collaborative support, and creating safe spaces for individuals to share and grow. My approach to counselling is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and a strong commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where clients feel heard and understood. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate challenges, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change.
