Joanne Doucette, MSW, RSW

Social Worker

Hi! I am Joanne Doucette, a Registered Social Worker, Therapist, and facilitator of support groups and workshops.

My career includes a decade at CHEO, where I worked as a Social Worker on both the Mental Health Inpatient Unit, and at Roger Neilson Children’s Hospice, as part of the Palliative Care team. Currently, in my private practice, I focus on grief, anxiety, and parent support. As an Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) therapist, I strive to empower parents to feel included in their child’s care, build confidence in using therapeutic strategies, and reduce stress in family life.

I have developed and delivered groups and workshops for children, teens, and parents on topics such as anxiety, emotion coaching, grief, and healthy use of technology in families. I frequently present to school parent councils and community groups, both in person and virtually.

Currently, I am facilitating a new support group at CAFCO for teens grieving the death of a parent or sibling, “Teen Grief Circle”. This group offers a safe, supportive space where teens can connect, share, and learn more from their peers about living with grief.

I am a member of the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers of Ontario and completed my studies at Queen’s University (B.A.H. Psychology) and University of Toronto (MSW).

Outside of work, I am a proud Mom to two young adults, ages 18 and 20. I love being outside in nature and can be found hiking, cross country skiing and playing pickleball with family and friends in my spare time.
