April Krause

Hi!
I’m April, a registered social worker and psychotherapist. I am passionate about supporting teens and young adults who are navigating big emotions, identity questions, self-harm, anxiety, low mood, suicidality, or the impact of chronic pain and health issues. I also have experience supporting children and families through my work at CHEO’s Outpatient Mental Health program.

I provide compassionate, youth-centered, and trauma-informed psychotherapy that begins with listening—so that your voice, not assumptions, guides our work together. My approach integrates evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), trauma-focused approaches, and solution-focused therapy. My aim is to help young people build coping skills, feel more understood, and develop confidence in navigating life’s challenges.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Child Studies with a Minor in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Legal Studies, both from Carleton University, and a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. I am a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers.

My clients describe me as approachable, compassionate, and affirming. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where young people feel heard, and where we can work together to find strategies that actually make sense in their daily lives.
