Dipl-Psych

Inga Bohnekamp (Dipl-Psych) provides counselling services as well as mind-body therapy and yoga therapy for children, adolescents and adults in English and German. She also speaks French.

She offers both individual therapy and groups.
Inga’s main areas of focus include eating disorders, trauma, body image issues, mental health, coping with chronic illness and chronic pain and working with athletes.
Inga has worked in eating disorder therapy and research in Europe as well as in North America for almost 20 years, including four years at the child and youth eating disorder psychiatry ward of the prestigious German University Hospital Charité in Berlin.
Since moving back to Canada with her family 12 years ago Inga has created and run multiple therapy programs including the beloved Maple Minds Program for patients living with chronic illness, chronic pain and cancer at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (OCTC), Canadian Arthritis Society Toronto (TAS) and Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation to name a few and has worked with different Ontario and Quebec school boards as well as with (pre)professional athletes at different dance schools such as The School of Dance Ottawa and with rowers of the German National Team.
Inga is also functioning as a professor and lecturer on topics such as Child and Youth Yogatherapy, trauma and eating disorder treatment at different academies in Germany and Switzerland.
Inga completed her degree in Clinical Psychology (Dipl.-Psych) at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, and has undergone post-graduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with children, youth and families as well as Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT) with youth and adults. She has received several scholarships for completing parts of her education in Canada at the Université de Montréal and in the USA. Inga is registered as a Child and Youth Counsellor in Ontario (OACYC, full professional member).
She is also a Yoga Teacher (Strala Yoga New York, 400+hours), a Child and Youth Yoga Teacher and Mindfulness Teacher and, as a dancer herself, is constantly expanding her movement therapy repertoire with modalities like Dance Therapy, Tai chi and Qi Gong.
She is the author of several published books and therapy manuals on topics such as yoga, mind-body therapy and coping with chronic illness in childhood and youth and DBT treatment for eating disorders and has been the contributing author on Mindful Parenting for the US website of Attachment Parenting International for years.
